The Sexy Object

I looked around my room noticing the objects that serve as part of our day-to-day lives and how we take them for granted. From coffee mugs to light bulbs, it is clear designers have put thought into every detail. Yet, all this hard work goes unnoticed until something new comes along with an idea so revolutionary even its creator can't believe what they created! 

I'm not sure if there is any way you could make watching documentaries more interesting than it already is, but after watching Objectified, I felt compelled to create one specific object which stuck out to me while watching--The MacBook.

No doubt about what Dieter Rams says, Apple takes its design seriously. The company's products are beautiful and sexy, so I decided to make a 3D MacBook in Tinkercad. I believe by designing it myself; I will have a clearer view of the idea behind this product. Although I couldn't make it the same as the MacBook, it still shocked me how much detail can be found within this product.

I am fascinated by the way Apple products look and function. The first time I used one of their phones, it felt like everything came together seamlessly in a simple design. As Jonathan Ive said in the documentary Objectified, "I got a clear sense of the people who designed it and made it." That is the Apple product. You don't struggle with any feature on the laptop; it comes naturally in a way that makes sense.

While making this 3D model, the design of the MacBook is both simple and detailed in an elegant way. The colour is light grey and black, giving people a luxurious feeling. The front of the laptop has a simple logo with a slightly curled shape, making it easy to hold and carry. Every button and shape was well thought out and measured. It is a piece of art. 

Objects can be a powerful influence. People feel joy and excitement when using new technology. As objects, phones and laptops have a close relationship with their company brand. The first iPhone I owned left me with a positive memory, so I have loved Apple company products since. In conclusion, Apple products are sexy. I believe the design of the MacBook will stand the test of time.
