The Future Door

The Future Door

In this week's class, I learn using simple elements to create public art and trace a public area in Riano. Also, I learned how to input my 3D public art into a snapshot of the Google map using Photoshop to edit the 3D object into a picture. Finally, ensure the object is in harmony with the rest of the picture scene by flattening the image and colour balancing.

A desirable and attractive public art object should be able to communicate to us. This object is relatable, and we can connect it physically and mentally. Using what is considered a good form through the Dominant, Subdominant, and Subordinate relationship, I create an object name The future Door. This design idea comes from an animation called Dokodemo Door, also known as The Anywhere Door. If public art could be used for time travel, then The Future Door would provide a great opportunity. As people walk through this door, they are encouraged to imagine themselves as their future selves, looking back at the years gone by. They can picture themselves in their later lives, with all the wisdom that only life experience can bring, and being able to advise their younger version on how to live life well. That advice would likely include working hard when you have the energy and not taking anything for granted - laughing as much as possible because life should be enjoyed. Ultimately it is a reminder to treasure every passing moment because our time is precious.
